Originally established in 1957, Westgate has amassed a population of over 3,100 residents who find the abundance of green space immediately surrounding the community a blessing. The neighborhood is also bordered by 17th Avenue and the Bow Trail which will both guide residents into the restaurants, boutiques, and the vibrant culture that runs fluent in Calgary’s downtown core.

Due to Westgate’s borders being 17th Avenue, the Bow Trail, and the Sarcee Trail, one may travel nearly anywhere in the southern half of Calgary. Take the Sarcee Trail south to visit the Weaselhead natural area, the Tennis Courts, or the Earl Grey golf club. Take the trail north to visit Edworthy Park and to walk along the Bow River. 17th Avenue will take you straight through downtown and right up to the Scotiabank Saddledome. Meanwhile the Bow Trail will take you along the Bow River before leading you through Calgary’s downtown core. One doesn’t need to travel that far either to shop as the Westbrook Mall is located just a neighborhood over only a minute down the Bow Trail.
There are over a dozen Calgary Transit stops that line the southern, eastern, and northern borders of the Westgate community making transportation easy to access for all residents.
