Cedarbrae Community Information and Description

Journey into the heart of Calgary’s southwest and explore the amenities that surround the enthusiastic community of Cedarbrae. Tucked in between Southland Drive to the north, 24th Street to the east, Anderson Road to the south, and the Tsuu T’ina first nation reserve to the west, Cedarbrae is a neighbourhood that was first established in the early 1970s. With a population of approximately 6,000 residents – with the vast majority of these being permanent residents – Cedarbrae maintains a median household income of $65,000 with approximately 22% of the housing in the neighbourhood being used for renting. The neighbourhood maintains a superb location with close proximity to recreational opportunities, easy access to downtown Calgary, and enough privacy to capture its small-town feel.

Cedarbrae’s public school students attend Cedarbrae’s own elementary school before wrapping up their studies at Louis Riel Junior High and then Henry Wise Wood High School. Catholic school students are afforded the same luxury in location as St. Cyril Elementary and Junior High is located in between the borders of Cedarbrae – upon finishing their studies there, Catholic students move on to Bishop Grandin Senior High School.

Whether you are a wildlife enthusiast, an avid hiker, or extreme adventurist, there is never a shortage of things to do and all within minutes of your community! Fish Creek Provincial Park and Glenmore Park are in close proximity, allowing a resident to plan their next adventure in the vast spaces of their own area. Get serene wilderness and a tranquil atmosphere nearby.

If tranquil isn’t your thing, Cedarbrae Plaza is a local strip mall that includes a variety of retail stores including the popular hangout “Sammy’s World’s Greatest Pizza”. The Oakridge Co-Op Shopping Centre is also set up within only a few minutes northeast at the corner of 24th Street and Southland Drive. Southcentre Mall is a short drive down Anderson Road as well. All of this leaves a resident with ample opportunity to shop, explore, and learn about the commercial amenities that occupy close by.

Calgary Transit maintains a steady flow of buses from Southcentre Mall but if one cannot get up there, they need not worry. There are multiple bus stops stationed throughout Cedarbrae to assist residents who wish to visit other parts of Calgary.

Step onto some of the safest streets in Calgary and explore.
